“Phu Soi Dao” is a mountain range that forms a natural border between Thailand and Laos, covering Ban Khok and Nam Pat Districts in Uttaradit Province, as well as Chat Trakan District in Phitsanulok Province.

Steps for Visiting (Lan Son Area)
1. Preparation Before the Trip
- Check the weather and travel season (the best time is during the rainy to early winter season, September–November, when the Murdannia giganteum flowers are in full bloom).
- Reserve accommodation/tent space and contact Phu Soi Dao National Park in advance.
- Prepare essential gear such as tents, sleeping bags, raincoats, flashlights, and trekking shoes.

2. Traveling to Phu Soi Dao
- Arrive at Phu Soi Dao National Park (located on the border of Uttaradit and Phitsanulok provinces).
- Register with the park office, purchase entrance tickets, and hire porters if needed.
3. Trekking to Lan Son
- The trekking route is about 6.5 kilometers and takes 4–6 hours.
- The trail is steep in parts, with forest paths and several waterfalls (Phu Soi Dao Waterfall with 5 tiers).
- Key sections are known among trekkers, such as “Relative Farewell Hill,” “Conqueror Hill,” “Deadly Hill,” “Trash Hill,” and “Rhino Hill.”

4. Arriving at Lan Son (Campsite Area)
- Lan Son of Phu Soi Dao is located at an altitude of about 2,102 meters.
- Visitors can set up tents and stay overnight.
- Enjoy sunrise and sunset views, as well as wildflowers such as Murdannia giganteum, Coreopsis, and ground orchids.
5. Popular Activities at Lan Son
- Walk through and explore wildflower fields (especially during the rainy season).
- Take photos among the pine forests (three-needle pines) scattered across the plateau.
- Watch the morning sea of mist.
- Stargazing and photographing the Milky Way at night.
6. Descending
- Pack belongings and ensure all trash is collected and taken back (Zero Waste).
- Trek back down along the same trail.
- If using porter services, confirm arrangements and meeting points with park staff.
7. Best Time to Visit
- Rainy Season (August – September): The most popular period, when the Murdannia giganteum (crested naga flowers) bloom in full splendor. However, trekking can be more challenging with slippery trails.
- Cool Season (November – January): Pleasantly cool weather with clear skies, perfect for stargazing and enjoying the sea of mist.
